Pre-owned JJ Retro. This guitar is in excellent condition for it’s age. No fret wear, no dings or wear marks. Never been gigged.
The JJ Retro is an older JJ model set neck design featuring a solid Mahogany body combined with a Maple top. This instrument is well balanced with a solid-feel and an absolute dream to play. This particular guitar was built in 2002 and comes with an original certificate of authenticity.
The figured maple top is finished in antique sunburst with a mahogany body. The neck has a rounded C profile with an East Indian rosewood fretboard. JJ Guitars managed to purchase large stocks of fingerboards from the classic BURNS company many years ago as featured on this guitar. This fingerboard looks and feels very special, you really don´t see this quality very often. All original in specification with custom wound pickups – P90 in the neck and open-coiled JJ custom humbucker in the bridge – coil-tapped /push pull pot. Three-way toggle switch engages either or both pickups to give a broad range of sound options. This Retro sustains like heaven and provides nice tones, even the split sounds are convincing and versatile. It has medium jumbo frets, USA Sperzel tuners and custom made wrap-over Aluminium Bridge. It is in fantastic condition as it´s been treated very carefully over the years. This guitar will appeal not only to players, but also collectors, as it is so rare to find guitars of this year in such good condition. I have been told that this guitar is identical to one being owned by Jazz Fusion Maestro Frank Gambale – also manufactured in 2002. JJ Guitars build instruments for some of the world’s finest artists including Matt Schofield, Simon Townshend (The Who) Joe Berger, Bill Liesegang (Rod Stewart, Trevor Horn), Jan Cyrka, Tomo Fujita, Andy G Jones (Van Morrison) and many more.
